Alia Shawkat, born April 18, 1989, in Riverside California (United States), is one of Television's most successful and well-known actresses. Played Maeby Funke on the Fox show Arrested Development a role that brought her an TV Land Future Classic Award. Shawkat was one of the cast members in the movie Whip It alongside Ellen Page. From 2001 to 2004, Shawkat played Hannah in State of Grace. Shawkat played Maeby Funke for the entirety of Arrested Development's run between 2003 and 2018 as a member of the regular cast. Shawkat's performance was occasionally singled-out for praise. Brian M. Palmer described Shawkat as "one of the brightest stars on a series that has the brightest lights" and Scott Weinberg (eFilmCritic) called the actress a funny young woman. The A.V. Shawkat told the Club that, in the year 2010, a lot of Shawkat's early experiences as an actress occurred on Arrested Development: Mitch Hurwitz was my father figure.
