
Bellamy Young was born Amy Maria Young in February 1970."1" She's an American performer, actress, producer, and actor most well-known for her performance as Melody "Mellie," Grant in ABC's Scandal in 2012-2017. She was awarded the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting actress in a Drama Series in 2014. She also starred in the Fox show Prodigal Son (2019-2021). Young began her career as an actress in the theater. Young made her Broadway debut on stage in 1997 as Mary in The Life's first line-up. Some of her off-Broadway credits include Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Rock Along (1994) as well as Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). The first time she appeared on television in the year 1995 as the character Dr. Courtney Evans, in a recurring part on the NBC soap opera Another World. The actress guest-starred in the show Law & Order in 1997 and 1998 in two distinct roles. She debuted in a film in 1999 with a minor role as a minor character in Black and White, a crime-drama. Later she starred in numerous independent films. Then, in the beginning of 2000, she was invited to guest-star in a variety of comedy and drama shows on television, like The Drew Carey Show, The X Files, ER, Frasier, The West Wing, NCIS, Medium, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Two and a Half Men, Supernatural, Drop Dead Diva, and Castle. Young was featured in more than 30 appearances in TV shows between 2000 and 2011.
